Specifically, it discloses a prelithiation additive designed for the cathode of lithium-ion batteries, along with its preparation method and application. The prelithiation additive comprises a high-efficiency catalyst and a lithium source. The high-efficiency catalyst is a transition metal carbonization compound. The lithium source is a lithium carbon oxide or a lithium oxide; the high-efficiency catalyst can catalyze the decomposition of the lithium source at a charging voltage lower than 4.4V. In this invention, the high-efficiency catalyst within the cathode prelithiation additive significantly reduces the decomposition potential of the lithium source. Consequently, the additive exhibits low decomposition potential and high capacity, effectively releasing active lithium ions during the first cycle of battery charging. This innovation compensates for the irreversible loss of active lithium caused by the negative electrode during the charging process, thereby improving the energy density and cycle life of the battery system.
